Maruti Suzuki Cumulative Exports Cross 15 Lakh Vehicles

Navnit Motors Pvt Ltd

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s leading passenger vehicle maker, has attained cumulative exports of 15 lakh (1.5 Million) vehicles.

These vehicles have been exported to over 100 countries including Europe, Latin America and Africa. Early this year, the Company’s premium hatchback Baleno, manufactured exclusively in India, became the first car to be exported from India to Japan.

The Company started exports to Europe in 1987-88, when a small number of cars were sent to Hungary. Thereafter, exports have grown at a steady pace, as new models and markets were added from time to time. Although exports business is inherently subject to economic and policy changes in the destination countries, the Company has been able to maintain an upward trend in exports over the years.

Maruti Suzuki’s blockbuster hatch Zen, India’s world car of the 1990s, took the Company to many new markets. Exports were bolstered also by the iconic Maruti 800 and later, A-Star. India’s most popular car brand for over a decade, Alto, also has a sizeable presence in the export markets, having clocked over 3,90,000 sales cumulatively.

Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki, Mr Kenichi Ayukawa said: “We are happy to reach the 1.5 million milestone for our exports. Maruti Suzuki has consistently maintained a presence in international markets, regularly offering new products and reaching out to new countries. Our products like Zen, A-Star, Maruti 800 and Alto have made a mark overseas, including in the most competitive markets of Europe”.

He added: “Our premium hatchback Baleno, made exclusively in India, is the first car to be exported from India to Japan. It has become a symbol of the Make in India mission of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and taken India’s exports story to a new level”.

In 2015-16, the top five exported models for the Company were: Alto, Swift, Celerio, Baleno and Ciaz. Among destinations, Sri Lanka, Chile, Philippines, Peru and Bolivia emerged as the top markets for Maruti Suzuki export models.

The newly launched light commercial vehicle, Super Carry, is also exported to South Africa and Tanzania and will be exported to SAARC countries in the future.

Basic Seat care

Navnit Motors Pvt Ltd

A comfortable and clean set of car seats are essential if one intends to drive comfortably. Here are some tips on how to maintain them….

Your seats are what connect you to your car. Most drivers, especially in India have no idea on how to position their seats for an ideal driving position. That said, a set of dirty seats, is not only a put off for your passengers but can also lead to one getting lower resale value when you want to sell you car. Here are some tips that can help you bring the shine back in your car’s seats.

Do not eat or drink in your car

Spilling a can of cola or a dollop of ketchup is a sure shot way of ruining your car’s interiors. As with most things in life, the best way to avoid this is by not eating or drinking in your car. Although most people would find this unreasonable, not eating in your car can also help you in many other ways. For example, crumbs falling off your favourite sandwich can attract both rodents and insects like ants and cockroaches, which can in turn lead to more headaches in the long term.

Use foam based cleaner to clean stains

Using heavy detergents on your fabric seats will most probably end up ruining them. The best thing one can do is used a speciality foam based cleaner to clean the seats. Spray the dirty spot on the seats with the cleaner and rub vigorously for a minute or two till the stain disappears. Wipe the spot thoroughly with a clean and dry soft cloth till the surface feels dry. You can clean your whole car’s upholstery the same way, area by area till you get satisfactory results. If you don’t have access to foam based speciality cleaners, a spoonful of mild detergent mixed with warm water can also give satisfactory results. Remember to always squeeze out as much water from the cloth as possible before starting the cleaning process.

Leather is more delicate than fabric

Although a leather interior may look clean and crisp when new and clean, a neglected leather interior looks (and smells) nasty. Leather though is much more delicate than fabric and needs special care. It is best to use a good product specially formulated for cleaning leather seats. Some leather care products make the leather more shiny or slippery. Other products can make it sticky or tacky, so before using it, test a product in a small area to see if you like it. Don’t use paper towels on leather, they can leave scratches; use a soft clean cotton towel instead. Start with vacuuming leather seat crevices with the soft brush attachment, but be careful, as the vacuum hose can easily scratch the leather. Spray some leather cleaner agent on the soft clean cotton towel and wipe the seat gently, reaching into crevices and around the edges.

Leather wrapped steering wheels and gear knobs should never be cleaned with the same agent used to clean seats, as they can get slippery or sticky. The best thing to do is to clean them with a slightly damp soft cloth thoroughly to remove any dust, dirt or fungal growth from them.

Navnit Maruti Service Center in Thane, Mumbai will also perform overall health checks on your vehicle and if there is other work that needs attention or other parts that need changing they will communicate this with you in advance to make sure you are aware of what additional work is required and whether any further costs may be incurred.

Maruti Suzuki Driving Training Initiative :

Maruti Suzuki has been actively imparting driver training since 2000. The Company has setup 6 IDTRs (Institute of Driving and Traffic Research) and over 370 MDS (Maruti Driving Schools) facilities to impart safe driving training.

1) Maruti Suzuki Driving Schools (MDS):

MDS are neighborhood driving schools set up in partnership with Maruti Suzuki’s dealer partners. The driving schools are equipped with advanced driving simulators to create on-road driving situations and offer a mix of classroom and practical training by trained instructors, including women. Almost 50 per cent of those enrolled at MDS are women. The Company encourages people to take up driving as a profession through social programs like Unnati where women are imparted training in etiquettes and customer relations, besides building the skill of safe driving.

Currently over 370 Maruti Driving Schools are operational across the country.

2) Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR):

Maruti Suzuki has set up IDTRs in collaboration with state governments. Equipped with scientifically engineered training and testing tracks of international standards, state-of- the-art driving simulators and well maintained vehicles, these IDTRs follow a structured training content including classroom and practical sessions. The course is imparted by well qualified instructors. Maruti Suzuki manages 6 IDTRs (Two each in Haryana and Delhi NCR, one each in Uttarakhand and Gujarat). Nearly 9000 tribal youth trained at the Gujarat IDTR have either got jobs or turned entrepreneurs. While the MDS focuses on personal car driving, the IDTR additionally trains drivers for commercial driving including trucks, buses and other heavy motor vehicles and taxi & three-wheelers.

What’s Causing That Smell in My Car?

12027504_1007935742590667_3729778140554791054_n

CARS.COM : If your vehicle is giving off an unusual or sickening odor instead of that new-car smell, follow your nose and find the source of the aroma. Bad smells can lead to expensive repairs or health hazards and shouldn’t be ignored. Here are some common odors and their possible causes:

Musty : If turning on the air conditioner generates a musty smell, mold and/or mildew have probably formed in the air-conditioning system. Moisture naturally collects on the cold air-conditioning evaporator (a small radiator that carries refrigerant into the car’s dashboard) and it may be harboring mold. Running only the fan at high speed (with the air conditioning off) can dry the evaporator.

However, that doesn’t guarantee the problem won’t reoccur — especially if it’s being caused by a clog in the drain tube that allows water to drip out under the car. A musty smell also can be caused by carpets that get wet when water leaks into the interior.

Sweet : Antifreeze has a sweet, syrupy odor, and smelling it inside a car usually means there’s a leak somewhere in the cooling system. The source may not be easy to see. For example, the leak could be from a corroded heat exchanger (aka heater core), which is usually behind the dashboard. The leak could be in the form of steam that enters the cabin, producing the smell and potentially fogging the windows. Have this problem addressed, because breathing antifreeze isn’t good for you.

Burning : Oil could be oozing onto a hot part of the engine or exhaust system. It also could come from overheated brake pads and/or rotors — due either to aggressive braking, pads that don’t retract when you release the brake pedal or the emergency brake being left on while driving. On a vehicle with a manual transmission, the clutch plate could be worn or overheating from riding the clutch pedal. Leaves or other material in the engine compartment — sometimes imported by nesting rodents — also can burn on hot surfaces.

Rotten eggs : If you can smell rotten eggs or sulfur, your catalytic converter may have gone bad. The root cause could be an engine or emissions-system problem that made the converter overheat.

Rubber: The smell of burning rubber could be an accessory drive belt that’s slipping or getting chewed up by a broken pulley or hose rubbing against a moving part. An overheated clutch plate also can smell like burning rubber.

Electrical : Smell burnt toast? That could be a short circuit in an electrical component or overheated insulation. Take electrical odors seriously, because short circuits and overheated components are common sources of fire.

Gas : It’s normal to smell a little gas when a cold engine is first started because of incomplete combustion. If you smell gas after the engine is warm, though, the gas cap could be loose or the evaporative emissions control system — which is supposed to contain fuel vapors and recycle them through the engine — could be leaking or clogged. Even worse, gas could be leaking from the tank or another part of the fuel system. Always investigate gas smells you discover when your car is parked before starting the car and potentially igniting the fuel.

Rotting fruit : It’s probably what it smells like. Look under the seats for a decomposed apple or banana.
